Isn’t that a gorgeous scene? I snapped this photo while walking my favorite trail on Sunday morning. God’s always showing off His creative genius at this spot.
It’s a glorious place, and it’s peaceful.
This Sunday the scenery wasn’t the only thing feeding my soul. We’re “sheltered in place” here in California, and mostly stuck in our homes. I know a lot of folks are frustrated with the situation, and many are full of fear. But I see a silver lining in this crisis that brings me more peace: Families are finally spending time together instead of focusing on mounds of activities and way too much school-related stress.
Typically, I walk this trail and see only a handful of other people. This Sunday was different. There were families all over the trail. Kids sitting atop their daddy’s shoulders, toddlers smelling daisies, little ones racing their mamas up a hill, and so many other sweet scenes. They were smiling and laughing, and didn’t seem to be missing the stress one bit.
Simple pleasures deliver profound impact.
Remarkable that we’ve been praying for families to reunite and fighting to deliver our children and loving teachers from the dangers in our public schools, and now they’re reunited and delivered.
This is a silver lining and an answer to prayers. Now it’s up to us to recognize it and to ask God for direction and peace.
