When I took up the cause for worker freedom, I never thought it was controversial. Every American should be free to choose – without fear or coercion – whether or not to join or fund a union.
But union leaders disagree. They’ve bullied me my entire career as an elementary school teacher serving children for three decades. During my lawsuit to free American workers from union abuse, I was attacked in the press, mocked as a clown, called “spawn of Satan, ”and characterized as a freeloader and pawn of wealthy corporate interests by the very unions I was forced to fund.
Like me, Mark’s fight for fairness is being twisted by union leaders who exploit workers to amass more power through the billions they forcibly take from our paychecks.
Now it’s Mark who is being vilified by union bullies. A nice guy – an Eagle Scout – Mark says his case, which was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on Feb. 26, is an example of “an average guy … fighting for his rights of free speech.”
His fight is our fight.
Unions, like all bullies, depend on the fear and silence of their victims.
We will not be silenced any longer. We will not be victims.
That’s why all those who stood with me in my fight, are now standing with Mark.

Mark was forced to pay for divisive union politics just to be a public servant. The US Supreme Court decided in Mark’s favor on June 27, 2018, so now all public servants (including teachers) are free to opt out of supporting the sexual, social and political agendas of state and national unions.
